Ducati is to show a new motorbike inspired by the Mercedes-Benz AMG line at the Frankfurt Motor Show later this month, it confirmed September 5.
The Ducati Diavel AMG Special Edition is the flagship model of the 2012 Diavel family and has been 'co-inspired' by AMG, Mercedes-Benz's high-performance racing brand.
Based upon the Diavel Carbon, the new model features AMG's signature wheel styling and an AMG-style sport exhaust system with engraved end-caps, the finishing touch to the hand-built matte black carbon-fibre body work.
The model will be tweaked for performance, with the cam-timing for the Testastretta 11° engine set by hand and a specially-engineered 240-section rear tire included to deliver 'mind-blowing' performance.
As a special edition model, each motorcycle will feature a numbered plaque on the fuel-tank, as well as the AMG lettering laser-engraved into the air-duct panels.
Orders for the model will open at the same time as the Frankfurt International Motor Show, which runs September 15-25 in Germany, although deliveries aren't set to begin until early next year.
Alongside Ducati/Mercedes-Benz will be BMW Motorrad and sister firm Husqvarna Motorcycles, which confirmed last week that they will both debut electric motorcycle concepts at the show.
