I started my day off at about 430 a.m. I had to wake up very early despite the fact that i slept quiet late at about 1 a.m. I've been addicted to my laptop these past couple of days trying to figure out one or two things. Call me a bloggerholic i'll agree. I've been skipping breakfast in the last couple of days and sometimes forget to eat lunch. I just find it hard to get of my PC once i'm logged on.
But that wasn't going to happen today. I'm due for an Exam by 11 a.m even though there's environmental sanitation in Lagos state today and people are supposed to start commuting after 10 a.m. So i had to figure out a way to get to the Victoria Island before 7 o'clock. I knew it would be hard because where i'm coming from is quiet distant.
This is where the drama begins. I must say at the point that i don't drive so my commuting in Lagos most times is by public transport. The BRT's, DANFO's, KEKE MARWA, OKADA and the good old LEGEDES BENZ.
Not that i don't have access to an automobile though i haven't bought mine yet. I just don't know how to drive and worse off, i once tried a couple of times and the experience was disastrous so i made up my mind not to wreck other peoples cars.
Back to my Ordeal, I got to Oshodi at around 6.30 a.m after the bus i was commuting in suffered a tire puncture. So the commuters including me had to board a Molue bus out of desperation. At that moment, i would do anything to get the Victoria Island before 7 a.m. No one wants to get harrased and kidnapped by Lagos law enforcers. I once experienced that and it wasn't a pleasant one.
On getting to Oshodi, 7 was already clocking in and buses were no longer going towards the Island via Obalende but i hustled and was lucky to get a private cab coming from the airport. There were already two passengers before i got in and someone else hustled after me so i was sandwiched in between. It was a pretty small vehicle. A Golf 3 or so. Unknowingly us all, the man on my left hand side wasn't mentally balanced.
My suspicion was aroused when i started sensing a strange odor. I have a pretty sensitive noose though. Some smelt like both shit and urine. Couldn't figure out where it was coming from. Then i looked sideways and saw the man's face. He shirt was so dirty, had it been i noticed before boarding the cab i wouldn't have entered. Then he tied his trousers with a rope, ripped out of torn clothes. Then i wondered how the driver could have picked up such a fellow.
One thousand and one things went through my mind within a Milli second. Could it be that i had boarded a one "chance" vehicle.
Then i stared at the man on my right trying to confirm if my suspicion was right. He looked pretty responsible. Then the other crazy looking guy started ranting. Then i knew he was indeed a lunatic. A t that moment, i started trembling. Though it wasn't visible, i had to show that i'm a man (macho instincts). But i was afraid. Afraid that he might turn on me and attack or worse off start biting on us all. Luckily for us, he alerted that he wanted to alight. By this time we were just getting towards Gbagada.
Then the crazy looking dude said he was going to general hospital. The cab breaked and for him to get off and the crazy dude handed him 50 Naira. The driver complained halfheartedly that his fare was 100 Naira but he knew the crazy dude had nothing else on him. So he let him go.
That was how my morning went. Thank God i made it to the Island early enough but not without some more drama.
Now i have to put on some DEO to whisk off the remnant of that dude's odor.
