Today the executive governor of Ekiti state marks his 55th birthday which happens to be coming at an era of political antagonism from the government at the center. After being returned as an elected governor through the ballot in Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose seems to be the only vocal PDP Governor championing the course of his party while he often bombards the PMB led APC government with stiff criticism and often times harsh political antagonism.
Ayo Fayose is no doubt a charismatic governor with huge support from his people due to his new style of welfarism often times called the stomach infrastructure program of Ekiti. Ekiti indegenes are no doubt one of the most widely read in Nigeria which. "The Fountain of Knowledge" as it is known has towns and villages that could boast of at least a professor from each family. There are also many accomplished professionals. Legal luminaries like Afe Babalola, Wole Olanipekun S.A.N and Femi Falana.
In recent times, Ayo Fayose has aknowleged Elder statesman and first executive governor of ekiti state Ambassador Bamidele Olumilua who happens to be an APC stalwath as his political father and role model. It is worth of note to point to the fact that Ekiti state prior to it's formation by General Abacha's military government was part of the old Ondo state.
Today, Ayo Fayose has consolidated his popularity in his home state by endeering himself to the hearts of his people. It is no news that many young nigerians see him as a champion of true democracy despite being in opposition to the party at the center.
