Amy Winehouse died of Alcohol Poisoning.

Amy Winehouse died of alcohol toxicity, British coroner Suzanne Greenaway announced Wednesday.

She ruled that the singer's July 23 demise was "death by misadventure" and said Winehouse had a blood alcohol level of more than five times the legal limit.

Winehouse's parents, Mitch and Janis, released a statement after attending the reading of the verdict Wednesday.

"It is some relief to finally find out what happened to Amy. ... (She) was battling hard to conquer her problems with alcohol, and it is a source of great pain to us that she could not win in time."

Winehouse gave up illicit drugs in 2008, but had swerved between heavy alcohol use and abstinence for a long time, said Dr. Christina Romete, a physician who treated the singer.
