The Chelsea football club owner and Rissian billionaire Roman Abramovich threatened his fellow oligarch Boris Berezovsky into selling him billions of dollars in shares cheaply by telling him Vladimir Putin would seize his assets if he did not comply, a London court has heard.
In an insight into the world of Russia's super-rich, it is alleged Mr Abramovich, the billionaire owner of Chelsea Football Club, conned his former friend and mentor out of more than £2 billion.
Mr Berezovsky is claiming £3.5 billion in damages. Security measures at the court have included sweeping for bombs and ensuring the building is sniper-proof. It seems like the fear of Putin is the beginning of wisdom.
