The family of Michael Obi, the abducted father of Chelsea star John Mikel Obi, say they have received a 'sizeable' demand for ransom but denied it was N20 million.
Tony Obi, eldest son of the retired civil servant and head of the family in his father's continued absence, told KickOffNigeria.com that the family were shocked to hear about the supposed N20m
"Nobody has asked us for N20 million. There is nothing like that.
"We heard it on the radio and we were all very surprised because we don't know where this is coming from," he said.
Tony Obi declined to say what the ransome amount was, but a very close associate of the player, who is deeply involved in the process, told KickOffNigeria it was more in the region of 'millions of dollars'.
Michael Obi has not been seen since he was abducted six days ago on his way back from work.
