World's luckiest person wins scratchcard lottery four times - Worth: £13 million

You will be shocked to discover that a maths professor from the United States proved that a winning streak can last the best part of 20 years.

Joan Ginther, a 63-year-old statistician, is being dubbed the luckiest person in the world after she won a Texas scratchcard lottery four times.

The odds of that happening are roughly 1,260,900,000,000,000,000,000,000 to one -- to put that into some sort of perspective, that's basically every grain of sand on the planet times by 18, to one.

Ginther's amazing winning streak began in 1993 when she scooped £3.3 million, followed by a £1.4 million win in 2006, and then another £2 million haul in 2008. Her most recent £6.2 million win brought her grand total of lottery winnings to £13 million.

Ginther bought three of her winning tickets from the same gas station in Bishop, the Texas town where she grew up.
