Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in Somalia, bringing aid worth $115 million while drawing international attention to Somalia. His wife and other government officials also made the one day trip to Mogadishu amid praises form the Somali president. The foreign ministers of the 57-member Organization of Islamic Cooperation met in Turkey to discuss how to combat the famine in Somalia and a $350 pledge was made towards relief efforts .
